Whenever you send a command to the Canon printer to print any file or document, the command is then stored in the print queue. A print queue is like a normal queue except, it is for printers. When the print queue errors on the printer are not solved by clearing the print queue, we then have to fix the printer spooling problems on the computer.
A printer spooler is a program on a Windows computer that stores print jobs and directs them to the printer in the order in which the commands are given. When a spooling problem in printer happens, the printer spooler stops working and it results in print queue errors in Canon printers
The spooling problem in the printer is caused when there is a large bunch of cache files stored in the spool folder or when the printer spool service is stopped.
To fix the printer spooling problems, we need to delete the cache files and do a print spooler restart. Follow the steps below to do the same
- Open the Run command box on the Windows computer by simply pressing the Windows and the R key together on your keyboard. An empty search box will appear on the screen
- In the empty search box, type “Services.msc” and then click on “OK” or hit the “Enter” button on your keyboard
- The services window will open on the screen where you can control any services that are currently running on your Windows computer
- Find the print spool from the list of services and single-click on it to see if print spooler stopped. You can control the print spooler from here
- On the left-hand side of the window, you will be able to see the options for stopping and print spooler restart. Click on “Stop” to stop the Print Spooler
- After the Print Spooler service is stopped, you need to clear the spooler cache files to fix the printer spooling problems. To clear the cache files, open Windows Explorer and navigate to the “C” drive or the driver where the Windows operating system is installed
- From the “Windows” folder, navigate to the “System32” folder by double-clicking on it
- When you are in the “System 32” folder, look for a folder named spool and double-click on it to open the folder
- Go inside the printer folder and delete all the files you see. All the cache files will be deleted from the computer and now it is time for you to execute the print spooler restart which we have stopped in the previous steps to solve the printer spooling problems
- Go back to the services window and click on the Print Spooler services
- Click on “Restart” to automatically start the Print spooler services
The Print spooler services will be restarted and the print queue error on the Canon printer will be fixed.
