    Canon Printer Paper Jam

Canon printer paper jam is not such a big issue if you look from far sight but if it is not resolved efficiently, can cause several other problems. Here are a few reasons behind canon jammed paper and how to solve it.

Causes of Canon printer paper jam

    1. Incorrect Paper Loading

A torn or misaligned paper is the main reason behind Canon printer paper jam. Papers that are not aligned properly or papers that are torn or bent get stuck inside the printer causing canon jammed paper.

Do you keep in mind how much paper you are loading inside the paper? An overloaded paper tray is always bad. Canon jammed printer can also be due to a lot of paper in the paper tray.

    2. Worn or Dirty Rollers

Rollers are a very big part of the printer. They push and pull papers inside and outside of the printer. A roller is a mechanical component so it can easily wear out after a long period of time. When they wear out, they start losing their grip on the paper causing Canon printer paper jam. What happens is the rollers keep acquiring a lot of dust which limits their ability to roll

    3. Obstructions in the Printer

Items such as debris and particles from the air could result in challenges with the paper feed.

Objects, such as clippings or broken paper shards, can block the paper movement, leading to a “Canon printer paper jam”.

How to Fix Canon printer paper jam

Follow the steps below to fix a Canon printer paper jam

    1. Turn Off the Printer:

Avoid trying to fix a Canon copier paper jam without first shutting off the printer. To avoid electrical issues, turn off and disconnect the printer from the electricity source.

    2. Open All Access Points

To look for paper jams. You’re going to open up the printer. Start by opening the paper tray and the rear access door.

Different models of printers have different numbers of doors. Open any other additional doors you see on your Canon printer.

    3. Check for Obstructions

You should look deeply within the printer for paper shredding. To gain access to the paper route, open your printer’s primary cover. Check for and eliminate any sticky papers. Also, verify that the printer carriage operates smoothly. If it’s stuck, gently move it to free any caught paper.

    4. Remove Jammed Paper

The paper could become trapped anywhere inside the printer, including where it enters and exits. Open any accessible areas where paper could become trapped, such as the paper tray, rear access door, and output tray, and gently remove any stuck paper. Take care to remove it softly and gradually to prevent shredding it and leaving little bits.

    5. Inspect Rollers

Examine the rollers for any fragments of paper or objects of waste. Pull remove the paper and clean the rollers with a damp cloth. Cleaning the rollers strengthens the grasp of the printer rollers, lowering the likelihood of a Canon printer paper jam in the future.

    6. Update Drivers

Printer drivers can be updated via updates and the Canon website. Follow these procedures to update your printer driver.

    System Updates

    • Go to “settings”
    • Click on “Updates” and look for printer drivers from a list of updates available
    • Download the updates and install it

    Canon website

    • Go to the Canon printer website
    • Click on the “Support” section on the top left
    • Type in the Model no of your Canon printer in the search bar
    • Download the latest printer driver for your printer model

How to avoid Canon Printer Paper Jam

    • Use the Right Paper: To reduce the risk of Canon printer paper jams, use high-quality, paper manufactured by Canon or any other good band
    • Align Paper Properly: Align the paper appropriately in the tray, making sure it isn’t too full. Adjust the paper guides to ensure that they fit securely against the paper stack without bending it.
    • Avoid Overloading: Place an adequate amount of paper in the tray. Overloading the paper tray increases the likelihood of subsequent Canon printer paper jams.
    • Clean Rollers: Regularly clean the rollers with a lint-free cloth dampened with water.
    • Remove Dust and Debris: Use compressed air to blow away dirt and other particles from your printer.
    • Regular Maintenance: Perform periodic physical examinations as recommended in the printer’s guide.
