5. Verify that each cartridge is securely inserted. Press the cartridge down until it snaps down if it protrudes farther than the others.
6. Try again after carefully bending the tab away from the cartridge by no more than 1.27 cm (0.5 in) if the cartridge does not snap down.
7. When asked, align the printer by following the instructions after closing the door or lid to the cartridge access area.
8. Clean the electrical connections on the printhead and ink cartridge.
9. Clear any accumulation or dirt from the cartridge and carriage connections.
10. Slide open the cartridge access area door or cover. Prior to proceeding, wait till the carriage has stopped moving.

12. Using a lint-free cloth, clean off the cartridge’s copper-colored contacts.
13. Having the contact facing up, move the cartridge to the side.
14. Use a lint-free cloth to wipe the contact inside the printhead.
