The printer not printing black or any other color is caused due to the printhead of the printer being clogged. Drying out of the ink cartridge or the printhead can also be a reason why the printer ink cartridges are full but not printing. Follow the steps below to unclog the printhead and fix the problem of the ink cartridge full but not printing.
Method 1- Manual Cleaning of Printhead
Step 1– Press the Power button of the printer and wait for the printer to stop completely.
Step 2– Open the front access door and press the level attached to the ink cartridges.
Step 3– If the printer is not printing black but has ink, press the black printhead downwards to take it out from the printer.
Step 4– Inspect the printhead thoroughly. If it is dried out, it is the reason why the ink is full but not printing. Spray some sanitizer on its head from where the ink comes out.
Step 5– Gently rub the sanitizer with your hand or a piece of paper. Stop when you see some ink on your finger and the head is completely unclogged.
Step 6– Put the black printhead inside of the printer. Before you put the printhead black, make sure to check the ink levels of the black ink cartridge. If the ink level is low, the printer won’t print black.
Step 7-Press the lever to fix the printhead back into its place. Some printers might not have the lever. You can skip this step in such a case.
Method 2- Automatic Cleaning of Printhead
Step 1– Navigate to “Control Panel” and then go to the “Devices and Printers” section.
Step 2– Right- Click on the printer whose printer ink full but not printing and then click on “Printer properties”.
Step 3– Click on the “Maintenance” tab.
Step 4– You will need multiple cleaning to fix the issue of the printer ink full but not printing.
Step 5– If the printer is not printing black ink, choose the “Black” option. If none of the colors are printing then select the Color or All colors option and then click on the “Execute” button.
Step 6– After the cleaning is done once, go back to the “Maintenance” tab and then click on “System Cleaning”.
Step 7– black ink won’t print if the black printhead is clogged, choose the black option as shown in the image below and then click on “Execute”. The cleaning will take about 2 minutes to complete. After the cleaning is done, the problem will be solved.
