Resolving Canon Printer Scanning Issues on Windows and Mac

Canon Scanner not Working on the Mac

Step 1– Navigate to the official website of Canon.

Step 2– Click on “Support” on the top menu and then choose “Software & Drivers”.

Step 3– Choose your printer from the list of all the printers and then click on “Software & Drivers”.

Step 4– In the next step, select “Mac” as the operating system and then select the OS version.

Step 5– To fix the printer scanner not working, you need to download the Canon Scanner Utility. Click on the “Download” button next to the scanner utility to download it.

Step 6–  The downloaded file will show in the “Downloads” folder. Open the package file to run it.

Step 7–  The Canon scanner not working issue will be fixed and you will be able to scan new documents from the scan utility. Click on “Continue” and then on “Agree” to continue the installation process.

Step 8– Click on the blue Install button, click on it to fully install the file.

Canon printer scanner not working on Windows 

Step 1– Press the “Windows+R” button on the keyboard and then type “Services.msc”. Click on “OK” to open the services app.

Step 2– From the services app, find “Windows Image Acquisition”. Right-click on it and then select “Properties”.

Step 3– The Canon printer scanner not working issue can happen because of the WIA not starting up. Click on “Startup type” and then select the startup type “Automatic”.

Step 4– If the Service status is “Not running”, click on the “Start” button. If the status is already set to “Running”, click on “Stop”, wait for at least a minute, and then click on “Start”.

The Canon scanner not working on both the Windows and the Mac systems can be solved easily. On the Mac system, you need to uninstall the Scanner Utility, and then reinstall it again from the official website of the Canon.
